What started as a passion project in the spring of 2020 quickly took off into a full fledged side business. I began by building its social presence from scratch, starting with zero followers. Through consistent organic posting and engaging with the broader fly fishing community, we’ve reached over 4,000 followers. Along the way, I learned how to create content that genuinely connects with a niche audience. I also gained a strong understanding of social platforms and algorithms, including how timing, formats, and engagement drive reach. The experience taught me how to balance creative instincts with thoughtful, data-informed social strategy.

The “You Should Be Fly Fishing” campaign captures the idea that even a bad day on the water is better than a good day at work, appealing to the passion of fly anglers while also drawing in newcomers curious about the sport. It was OUR first paid social campaign and proved hugely successful, driving engagement, awareness, and Increasing SALES for the brand.

The goal of the Hex Fly Co. YouTube channel was to create engaging content that resonates with fly fishermen, capturing their passion and lifestyle. By connecting with viewers in a meaningful way, the channel helps drive brand awareness.
